Placing the Spytec GPS GL300 tracker

Placing the Spytec GPS GL300 tracker

Spytec GL300 recommends placing the tracker in a position where it can get maximum access to open sky. This should not be a problem when it’s being carried around and used for tracking people, pets or moving objects.

However if you intend to place the GL300 tracker in vehicles where it is not easily discoverable, there are a couple of points to keep in mind:

  1. Spytec GL300 GPS tracker should never be completely surrounded by metal. Doing so hinders the device’s ability to receive GPS signal.
  2. If you are placing the tracker on the vehicle chassis, make sure the LEDs are facing downwards towards the road.

According to Spytec, the best location to place the tracker in a car or truck is under the front seats. I personally do not recommend placing the tracker in glove box, bumpers, under the hood or in wheel arches because it leads to connectivity issues in most cases.

Spytec GL300 can also be hardwired to your car’s battery. Check out the Spytec GL300 hardwired kit installation guide for more info. Hardwiring a GPS tracker eliminates the requirement to charge the device from time to time. Hardwired GPS trackers are usually installed inside the car’s front dashboard where it is permanently hidden from sight.
