SpyTec GL300 Troubleshooting Guide

SpyTec GL300 Troubleshooting Guide

Every device whether digital or analog is designed to perform its task without any hiccups when taken fresh out of the box. However with use you may encounter some issues that cause disruption in its working. Spytec GL300 GPS tracker is no exception. Below are some of the most Spytec GL300 Troubleshooting issues and problems faced by most users and their solutions.

1.My Tracker is unable to get a lock on GPS

This is the most common problem faced by not only GL300 users but by any GPS tracking device users in general. The number one cause for this is that your device is not getting a clear line of sight with the GPS satellites above probably because of its placement. Tunnels, concrete buildings, car glove box, underground parking spots, under the cars seat are all places where it is difficult for a GPS tracker to pickup and maintain GPS signal. So whats the solution? Simply take the tracker somewhere you it can have a clear line of sight with the satellites positioned in the sky.

2.GPS platform shows the location of the tracker to be in New Jersey NJ.

This happens when the device has been turned on but it has not started transmitting the location data to the servers yet. If the green light is not blinking once every 3 seconds this confirms the problem. To solve this issue first make sure your subscription plans are active. Secondly, make sure you have T Mobile reception in your area.

3.GPS platform shows a blue screen or says the device is in Africa.

When the GPS tracker has not yet achieved a GPS lock it is unable to transfer the exact location information to the Spytec servers. To solve this problem take the device outside for a quick walk or drive and and its location should promptly update.

4.Why does my device say last updated x days ago? Is it being used?

This is because of the server time stamp issue with the Spytec server systems. It has nothing to do with your unit or account.

5.My device has frozen and does not work. How do I make it work again?

GPS tracking devices do hang sometimes and the only way to fix this is to restart the device. Turn off the power of your GL300 and restart it to make it work again.

6.I am not receiving email or text alerts

Make sure your account settings have the different alert types such as speed, ignition, geofencing turned on. In the change settings section click on add email for alerts. Make sure you have a valid email address added in the popup field. Similarly you must have a valid mobile phone number in the add SMS for alerts popup.

7.The tracker website does not show correct time.

If the time zone is not properly selected based on the country you are located in , there will be a mismatch between the actual time and the time shown in your logs. To change the time zone, choose the select/change timezone option to update timezone preferences. A popup will appear with radio buttons for each timezone (GMT). Select the radio button for any given timezone and click submit.
